Huge and stunning clock with a bronze statue. Extraordinary piece of furniture. It is composed of a base of black marble on which a slab of light alabaster is joined, above is a clock, again in alabaster, from which brass rays depart making it look like the sun, the clock is inserted in a support of polished black marble, so there is a wonderful statue of a half-naked man, very muscular, who catches the rays of the sun-watch as if to stop it or block it. A fantastic allegorical representation of the eternal struggle of man against time, the artist was thus inspired by the principles of Art Deco that exalted the forms and strength of man. The materials of this composition are very particular: the marble is Nero Marquinia, high-quality fine-grained stone material with a deep black color, extracted from the region of Markina, Basque Country in northern Spain, it is one of the most famous and appreciated natural stones in the world; the clock and part of the base are of alabaster, a type of rock formed in the Miocene, of chalky or calcitic origin of different colors, the shade present on our object is one of the most valuable and comes from Volterra-Tuscany- Italy; the rays are in brass; the male statue is a fantastic lost wax fusion in statuary bronze BZn10 (90% copper and 10% tin) chiseled and patinated in the best museum quality. An object for which it is difficult to find an adjective that gives value to its beauty. The clock mechanism requires a simple revision. Cm. 73 x 15 H.38. Very heavy.
