We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Refined and graceful pair of blown glass vases; that were executed completely by hand; iron oxide was added in the colorless glass mass, fused in a furnace at 1000°, in the right percentage to obtain the amber color, the craftsman took this glass out of the kiln and began to blow it by mouth with the special long blowpipe, then with precise and skillful movements he turned the vase on itself so as to create helical lines in the glass, then with a metal tongs he pulled the glass to form the open flower-like neck, at which point he detached the vase from the blowpipe with a pair of special scissors and leveled the base (as seen in the photo), all these ancient processes require special speed of execution, concentration, and precision. Immediately afterward he worked on the second vase, which turned out to be a little lower than the first one demonstrating precisely the exclusive handwork without the use of templates or molds. The two vases were created between 1970 and 1974 in a small workshop in Empoli (Tuscany, Italy). Italy boasts a flourishing tradition related to the production of glass artifacts that have long been an important foundation of the economy of areas where the activity of working the material was particularly widespread. Empoli and its surroundings have inextricably linked their name to the art of glassmaking and have been and still are a very important reality in the field of glass production in Italy. Empoli was famous for the production of artifacts related to winemaking: flasks, demijohns, and glasses. It was famous and renowned for the characteristic green hue that distinguished them, called precisely the "green of Empoli". With time traditional glassware was transformed from rustic became more and more elegant, multiplying its presence on the market; Empoli glass was worked in all shades of colors and shapes, but always strictly mouth-blown and handcrafted; this new production, combined with the ancient tradition, had in a short time a great commercial success and a huge artistic-cultural impact that lasts to this day.
