Please note: the armchair is part of a pair, but we have decided to sell the items individually; if you are interested in buying the other armchair as well, please contact us. We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Beautiful and elegant Austrian armchair in walnut briar; the frame is extremely solid and allows, thanks to its classic and intelligent design, to distribute the weights evenly and practically; the seat is very wide and very comfortable, also the backrest is consequently positioned at a right height to render maximum comfort; the armrests rest on the bases, have a decidedly original and practical shape, are much more massive than other similar armchairs; the entire wooden frame is made of walnut briar; briarwood has great aesthetic value, as it is very elegant and refined due to its many ever-changing natural grains, an object finished in briarwood is a totally unique product; the aesthetic of the impeccably designed armchair is energetic, compact and pleasant, a typical example of Art Deco. The armchair was handcrafted in Vienna between 1925 and 1927; we were fortunate enough to purchase it, along with others, at the Naschmarkt, a market that is an institution in the field of antiques in the Austrian city; the original fabric has much deteriorated, so we had it reupholstered in Italy by a skilled Florentine master craftsman who used a fine black velvet with a high resistance to wear and tear, bringing back to life with skill and expertise an object full of style and personality. The wooden part has been hand-treated with ancient restoration techniques by our team of craftsmen and is in excellent condition. Art Deco refers to a style and pattern of aesthetic taste that spread throughout Europe and the United States between the 1920s and 1930s. The name Deco comes from the words "Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes" held in Paris in 1925, which initiated this new phenomenon involving decorative arts, visual arts, architecture, and fashion. Art Deco is characterized by classical, essential, symmetrical, and elegant forms, sharp geometries, and plasticity in figures. The armchair is presented in excellent condition. Measures width cm.74, depth cm.67, height cm.85, seat cm.41. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
