THIS ARMCHAIR WAS MADE BY CABINETMAKER MICHAEL NIEDERMOSER / VIENNA. The feet are covered with brass fittings. Ash wood, seat covered with leather (= excellently restored) / Design: School of Josef Maria Olbrich (1867 - 1908) / Made by: Michael Niedermoser / Vienna, circa 1902 || Michael Niedermoser (1835-1908) - once born in Salzbourg/Austria - owned a carpentry & manufactory of furniture in Vienna as from the year 1860 / as from circa 1890, Niedermoser cooperated extensively with various architects, and the working relationship with Josef Maria Olbrich has become quite intense. - Olbrich, the world-famous Austrian architect and co-founder of the Viennese Secession, was appointed as co-founder of Darmstadt Artists' Colony by Duke Ernst Ludwig von Hessen: Olbrich designed many houses (including his own) and several exhibition buildings there. / Bibliography: Vera J.
