Elegant and refined Danish bench; it was made between 1850 and 1855 in pure Biedermeier style by skilled craftsmen in Hillerod a small town near Copenhagen in Denmark during the reign of Frederick VII (the last king of Denmark to rule as absolute sovereign and Hillerod was the royal residence of King Frederick VII); for the execution have used a precious and bright elmwood; the seat is wide and comfortable, the structure is very strong; the legs with a particular and decisive shape, rounded in the front part and cut at the right angle in the back one, the curvilinear and inclined armrests, the four spheres in black lacquered wood placed at the corners of the seat, create a sober and harmonic whole, in which is emphasized the combination of curved and straight lines in an interesting game of volumes and geometries. In fact, the aim of the Biedermeier artistic movement was to enhance the "sobriety and harmony", modifying part of the stylistic motifs from the previous period (the Empire style), but stripping them of all decorations, frills, and excesses that had characterized it. We found and bought the bench in Copenhagen/Kobenhavn in the Ostrerbro Market near the Rosenborg Castle. The entire wooden structure has been restored and we have also retouched it, this work has been done by hand with skill and precision by an old master craftsman of Prato (Italy), we want to remember that the city of Prato is considered the largest textile center in the world, its craftsmen and companies, highly specialized, are a reference point for creativity, quality and excellence; we have chosen a sophisticated and very expensive moiré and black velvet fabric with a unique geometric cut design by the prestigious company Dedar. Dedar is an old textile company located in Lombardy (Italy) with a productive excellence thanks to artisans and textile experts, masters in the techniques used in the production of exclusive and original fabrics; Dedar expresses a very personal style in its products, creating collections that are always at the forefront of haute couture for furnishing fabrics; the Italian style and design of the Lombard company are famous all over the world. The operations performed on the bench have given it a timeless elegance that can characterize with taste and refinement any room in the house. Measures width cm.58, depth cm.38, height cm.51, seat cm.46.
