An outstanding furniture set designed by Hendrik Petrus Berlage (1856-1934), manufactured by J.B. Hillen & Sons in Amsterdam, the Netherlands around 1905. The set contains a dining table, hall table, four dining chairs, two armchairs, two foot stools and a sideboard. Made of fantastic quality oak wood with beautiful carvings and grey fabric upholstery to the chairs and stools. Berlage is considered one of the fathers of the architecture of the Amsterdam School movement. This set was sent to the Milan International world’s fair in 1906 (L’Esposizione Internazionale del Sempione). After that, the set was purchased by a Dutch family and preserved really well. The whole set makes a fantastic find and a true piece Dutch design history!
