Set of 6 chairs in ebonized wood and covered with strong yellow velvet; they have an elegant and pleasant shape; the most interesting part of the chairs is the back with a delicate curvilinear and harmonious design; also the legs are slender and pleasant; they are made of excellent wood that has been ebonized; the covering is the original one and is in excellent condition; they have been handcrafted between 1950 and 1953 in Meda in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy (Italy), a place famous for the design industry and for the historical handcrafted production of Classic and modern furniture; all the parameters of the chairs lead us to attribute them with certainty to the famous Italian design Ico Parisi. Ico Parisi (Palermo 1916-Como 1996) was one of the leading figures in the culture of Como 900, since 1936 he worked at the important Studio Terragni, where he met and frequented famous personalities of architecture and art of Como, between 1948 and 1950 Ico Parisi is dedicated to the study of furniture and furniture design, and in 1951 he began friendships and collaborations with artists, designers, and architects such as Lucio Fontana, Bruno Munari, Mario Radice, and Gio Ponti. These relationships profoundly influenced his approach to architecture and furniture design and exemplify Ico Parisi's desire to integrate a synthesis of the arts into his work. By the mid-1950s, Parisi had become one of Italy's most influential furniture designers, with a uniquely modern aesthetic that uses softwoods often shaped into sweeping undulating curves and brightly colored upholstery. He also lived a socio-urbanistic, strongly utopian experience with interesting graphic research, the subject of the countless group and solo exhibitions. Ico Parisi is a "humanistic" figure of artist-artist difficult to place, he was an architect and designer but also a photographer, film director, and painter, in short, an artist at 360 degrees; he died in Como on 19 December 1996.
