Particular and rare wooden chaise lounge with fabric; the wooden structure was treated with white protective varnish; for the fabric part very thick and resistant raw cotton was used, the fabric was treated with water vapor which made it irresistible and long-lasting; these expedients were necessary because the chaise lounge was built to be used at sea. Handcrafted in Tuscany between 1950 and 1955. It was part of the decor of one of the most famous seaside areas in Italy: Versilia. We remember that in Versilia, in Viareggio in 1828, was born the first bathing establishment in Italy; in the whole area in the following year's developed elite tourism very qualified also culturally; people like Gabriele D'Annunzio, Giosuè Carducci, Giacomo Puccini, Alessandro Manzoni, Guglielmo Marconi, Henry Moore, Coco Chanel, Marlene Dietrich, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Amstrong, the Platters, Jerry Lewis, Liza Minnelli Steve Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Charlton Heston, Joe Cocker, and many other famous people attended Versilia. The most explosive years were between 1950 and 1968 when tourism of excellence reached its peak. Versilia was the favorite destination of the most famous personalities of show business, industry, and fashion from all over the world. Our chaise lounge is from that golden age! It has also been personalized with the initials of the important bathing establishment where it was part of the elegant furnishing of the beach: the Bagno Annetta in Forte Dei Marmi, the most fashionable establishment in the area, which in its century of history has hosted the most exclusive and demanding customers in the world. Measurements closed cm. 149 x 56 x 6 Seat cm. 35-40. The paint is missing in some areas of the wooden structure, wear and tear mainly due to marine agents. We can suggest the purchase in pairs (see the last photo) also of the other chair published later furnished with darker cotton.
