GORGEOUS ART NOUVEAU MANTLE TABLE CLOCK WITH DANCING COUPLE. MANUFACTORY: MEISSEN. DATING: circa 1910. MATERIAL: WHITE PORCELAIN, GLOSSY FINISH, FINEST PAINTING. DESIGNER / MODELLER: Julius Konrad HENTSCHEL (Cologne 1872 - Meissen 1907). He studied at Academy of Arts at Munich and Dresden; since the year 1889 he has been active in Meissen manufactory as designer and modeller. - HENTSCHEL DESIGNED THE MODEL W 116 (= ART NOUVEAU TABLE CLOCK) IN PERIOD AS FROM 1905 UNTIL 1910. DETAILED INFORMATIONS: MEISSEN STUNNING ART NOUVEAU TABLE CLOCK: DANCING COUPLE / the clockwork is embedded into excellently shaped Art Nouveau porcelain case which has a floor space at each lateral side to which the dancing couple is attached: A male as well as female figurine clad in rustic garments are visible there (by the way, the dancing lady is wearing a dirndl costume with apron) / the figurines are linking hands. The modelling is of finest quality, the details are excellently shaped = please look at the woman's apron billowed by the wind or at the man's spread arms with the meticulously worked folds of shirt / additionally, the paintings are of finest quality, too - please pay attention to the stunningly painted flower patterns on woman's garments ! MARKS: THIS MEISSEN HENTSCHEL TABLE CLOCK IS MARKED BY BLUE MEISSEN SWORD MARK (GLAZED BOTTOM) / FIRST QUALITY / MANUFACTURED c. 1910.
