Meissen gorgeous quite rare items: A Pair of Potpourri Lidded Vases with abundant sculptured decorations as well as with nicest Watteau Paintings. Manufactory: Meissen. Hallmarked: Blue Meissen Sword Mark (underglazed). FIRST QUALITY. MODEL NUMBER 2711 / former's number 123. Dating: made circa 1850 - 60. Material: porcelain, glossy finish, multicolored painted. Technique: handmade porcelain. Style: Rococo. DESIGNER: JOHANN JOACHIM KAENDLER (born in 1706 near Dresden / Germany - died 1775 in Meissen). MODEL 2711 CREATED IN YEAR 1760. Kaendler was chief sculptor at Meissen manufactory as from 1742 until the year 1775. He is the most famous modeller Meissen manufactory ever had. SUBJECT: A PAIR OF LIDDED POTPOURRI VASES, OF FINEST MANUFACTURING QUALITY (= PAINTED PICTURES OF WATTEAU STYLE AND ABUNDANT SCULPTURED DECORATIONS: CHERUBS, FLOWERS AND FRUITS). The vases' form type is that of a reversed pear to which handles shaped as leaves of palm tree are attached. The lids are of very interesting appearance, too / the decorations are of GORGEOUS QUALITY. Form type: REVERSED PEAR | PAINTINGS of highest quality: Gallant couples of Watteau style at front sides (noblemen accompanied by elegant noble ladies, all of them clad in finest Rococo garments and situated in romantic garden landscape) | the vases' backsides are painted with stunning flower bundles of various flower's blossoms such as rose flower, dahlia flower, tulip flower, forget-me-nots, poppy flower etc. Additionally, the vases' lateral sides are decorated with paintings of small strewn flowers' patterns. ABUNDANT SCULPTURED DECORATIONS EXISTING: The pictures are framed with garlands consisting of various fruits and large flowers' blossoms of stunning appearance. Sculptured figurines - each of the vases is decorated with two cherubs - are attached to vases' round base. Finally, the vases' lid is topped up by a gorgeous egg-shaped sculptured flower arrangement.
