MEISSEN MOST REMARKABLE FIGURINE: PIERRETTE (= FEMALE PIERROT). Manufactory: Meissen. Hallmarked: Blue Meissen Sword Mark (glazed bottom). model number Y 165 / former's number 58 / painter's number 9. FIRST QUALITY. Dating: earliest 20th century / made circa 1909 - 15. Material: porcelain, glossy finish, multicolored painted. Technique: handmade porcelain. Style: Art Nouveau. MODELLED BY: MARTIN WIEGAND (1867 - 1961) / sculptor and modeller, lived in Munich as from the year 1888. The sculptor worked on behalf of Meissen manufactory in period 1906-09 (caused by this short period the scale of this sculptor's Meissen work isn't great / due to this reason the figurines created by Wiegand are very rare as well as much sought by knowledgeable Meissen collectors). PIERRETTE FIGURINE: It is of stunning impression / Pierrette stands on base, simultaneously she is saluting, having the appearance of some type of coquetry ... additionally, Pierrette seizes a carnival's mask by right raised hand / the lovely spiky hat decorated with pompons as well as the fact that Pierrette is laughing induce the impression of very special cheerfulness: The carnival's costume fits perfectly the figurine's jovial impression.
