We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Fascinating and rare " Antique Master" chair with armrests; the backrest has a linear and refined design made of European walnut of the best quality; the armrests have a truly harmonious and elegant curvilinear progression and are tastefully connected to the backrest and seat; legs are simple, square-sectioned, slightly curved downward; the chair was handcrafted in the Napoleon III (late Empire) style between 1870 and 1875 in a cabinetmaker's workshop in the French municipality of Liffon-le-Grand located in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region. Antique Master (or King) chairs are generally larger than normal, and would have been made for Masonic leaders, schoolmasters, council leaders, and heads of families; anyone who owned and sat in a Master chair secured a position of authority over the group. After Napoleon's demise (1814), in the Restoration period the rich Empire style became more linear, delicate, and restrained in furniture sizes, leading up to the Napoleon III style, which resumed the more serious and austere forms of the First Empire, but Eclecticism, which distinguished the period, made it more graceful, refined, and elegant, reflecting and well representing the socio-cultural and economic period that France was then experiencing. The craftsmen used the wood "Juglans regia" called "national walnut" or "European walnut," which is a very valuable wood, among the absolute best in terms of quality, ease of processing, and strength. Because of its preciousness and special technical characteristics, walnut wood lends itself to a wide variety of uses, but always in contexts of the highest quality, making it especially popular in the luxury furniture sector. The seat of the chair was recently upholstered with a prestigious, rare, and very expensive fabric produced by Dedar, it is a white Moirè fabric combined with a fine black shaved velvet, this combination created an exceptional contrast of style and timeless elegance that pleasantly engages us. Moiré is single-color silk or silk-blend fabric. It has a shiny, silky appearance with an optical reflection consisting of characteristic sinusoidal ripples of iridescent light-dark depending on whether they reflect light; it is obtained by the use of special yarns and weaves. Said operation is called "marezzatura" in Italian. Dedar is a company located in northern Italy; founded in 1976, it continuously experiments and innovates with the goal of achieving production excellence through constant dialogue with artisans and textile experts, masters in the techniques used in the creation of fabrics of excellence.
