A unique set of two easy chairs, model “Utrecht” designed by Gerrit Rietveld, manufactured by Metz & Co in the Netherlands around 1950. These chairs are a rare first production by Metz&Co. They are special, because they are the first uphosltered chair designed by famous designer Gerrit Rietveld! They were produced by Metz & Co and the wooden frame was done by dhr. Staphorst, upholsterer for the company. Everything about the chairs remain in original condition, which makes them extremely rare! The chairs have an eye-catching design, very nicely combining the rectangular shapes into a piece that provides a high level of style together with a great seating comfort. They original upholstery has a nice, light grey colour that fits the design really well. The set remains in very good, vintage original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Literature: Metz&Co, uitgeverij 010, 1995, page 131. Provenance: Galerie Frans Leidelmeijer, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
