Rare “F558” Chair by Pierre Paulin for Artifort, 1963
An amazing lounge chair, model “F558”, designed by Pierre Paulin, manufacutred by Artifort in 1963. This iconic piece of Dutch design has a comfortable, curved seat with the original orange coloured fabric upholstery. This is a very rare edition on a wire metal base, very hard to find! We chose to keep the piece completely original, even though there are some fadings to the fabric. If prefered, re-upholstery is possible. The combination of shapes, materials and colors creates a wonderful retro style that is iconic for Paulin’s designs! This comfortable piece would make a true eye-catcher in any interior. It remains in good, original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) was a french designer who embraced complexity. Admired and exhibited all-over the world, he was an architect of the imaginary, an unwitting creator of fashion, an unpredictable and pioneering spirit. For the past 60 years, Pierre Paulin has had a major impact on our everyday enviroment through shapes as sweet as memories, seats as braced as sculptures, spaces as undulant as sand dunes, and objects whose innovative style shape our dialy life without our knowing it.
