Rare modernist French pendant light from the fifties. Green and white acrylic. One bulb E27/E26 of max 60 watt, the electricity is used but in a good condition, approved to European standards. Works in the USA. Dimensions: diameter: 13.8 inches (35 cm). Height 7.9 in. (20 cm), from ceiling till drop about 23.6 inches (60 cm). In the 1950’s famous Italian artists like Gino Sarfatti, Ettore Sottsass and Gio Ponti started to use plastics (acrylic) in their ligthing designs. In France especially designers like Pierre Guariche, Boris Lacroix and Joseph Andre Motte, all employed by the company of Disderot, applied this new material. This hard to find pendant lamp shows all the characteristics of their forward looking design approach by exploiting the properties of the material to it’s fullest.
