A very rare table lamp designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson, manufactured by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB / AB Markaryd in Sweden, circa 1960. This very special lamp is made of high quality white lacquered metal with a plywood hood. The wood is very nicely bent in two cilinder shapes, beautifuly connected with some additional space to emit a nice, warm light. This is a highly recognizable piece by Jakobsson as seen in his hanging lamp designs, but extremely rare as a table lamp! It is labeled on the base. It remains in very good original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a nice patina. Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919 – 2009) Swedish interior decorator and furniture designer born in Hvadhem. After finishing an apprenticeship as a carpenter, he studied architecture in Gothenburg and began his career as Industrial designer at General Motors. Subsequently he became an assistant to the prominent furniture designers Carl Malmsten and Werner West. In 1951 he founded his own company, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, at Markaryd. There he not only created lighting design but also candlesticks, pieces of furniture and other implements.
