Coffee or tea set designed by Salvador Teran, circa 1952. Manufactured by hand in Mexico, circa 1960. Comprising a coffee pot, sugar bowl, creamer and tray, all of hand-wrought brass and glass mosaic. All in excellent original condition. Measure: Height of coffee pot 9in (22.9cm) diameter of tray 16 1/2in (42cm) Signed with branded manufacturer’s mark to underside: [ hand-wrought, Salvador, Hecho en Mexico. 408 ]. Salvador Teran, a protege of both William Spratling and Los Castillos, his cousins, set up his own metalsmithing operation in 1952 in Mexico City, producing modern design metalwork in both jewelry and Fine metal objects often incorporating glass tesserae as a design element.
