A miniature German Black Forest striking and alarm Sorg wall clock, circa 1830

€9.750,00

The dial The 5.8-cm enamel dial has Roman numerals. The hands are blued and the alarm disc is made of engraved brass. Above the dial is a pressed brass ornament with two birds drinking from a fountain. The movement The movement has wooden plates with brass bushes in which the axes run. It is being driven by a weight on a pulley and has a duration of a day. It is being regulated by anchor escapement in combination with a pendulum. This fine small clock strikes the hours by means of a countwheel on a bell. There is also an alarm which strikes on the bell. The case The case is made of wood and has doors to the sides. It hangs on the wall with a hoop and spurs. The back plate is unclearly signed ???? in Triberg. This type of Sorg clock is usually named ‘Tropfenuhr’ which translates to ‘water drop clock’ because of the shape of the dial.
