We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Original and delightful French vase made of yellow crystal; the beautiful and decisive grinding has been carried out on the entire body of the vase along its circumference from the rim to the base; a top-quality lead crystal with a high thickness has been used in order to make deeper than normal grinding that allows the light to reflect in a much more shining and brilliant manner; for this to happen the geometry of the grinding has also been specially designed and executed. The coloring of the crystal affects the entire vitreous mass and was achieved by adding a mixture of sulfur and cadmium sulfide just during casting to make sure that the color was then uniform, this operation was done with great care and attention to balancing the components, to be able to give the vase, not an intense yellow but this delicate, light almost ethereal yellow. The vase is made of crystal with a percentage of more than 30 percent lead oxide ( a material, developed in England by George Ravenscroft in the second half of the 17th century), which is very bright and transparent. The high lead content, replacing the calcium found in ordinary glass, gives the crystal remarkable hardness, exceptional transparency, and a high refractive index. The vase was masterfully executed in the Art Deco style in France between 1930 and 1935, in the Nancy district, famous for its high concentration of factories and artisans specializing in crystal work (Daum, Baccarat, Saint Louis, etc.). The high refractive index of the vase was enhanced by Master Craftsmen in the workmanship, following the old and complex glassmaking techniques scrupulously executed by hand; first, it was cut and ground on a lathe with an emery wheel fed continuously by a jet of abrasive sand and water, then re-polished with a wheel of very fine-grained sandstone also fed with water, then polished through a cork bark wheel wet with a mush of water and pumice, this to make the surface more transparent, and lastly, the polishing stage which was achieved with a felt wheel wet with a mush of water, iron oxide, and cerium oxide. Our vase with its delightful and graceful form tells us these wonderful stories, it is an object with a unique identity full of elegance and refinement that leaves us surprised by the harmony of form and workmanship that come together in a balanced aesthetic balance. The vase is in very good condition, only on the rim a slight period of grinding has been done to fix a small chip, but the repair is almost invisible (see photo). Measures diameter 22cm, height 25cm. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
