We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Antique and rare Chinese ginger jar with lid; the jar has on the front a hand-painted decoration in cobalt blue under glass depicting an aquatic bird in a pond surrounded by lake plants, the back has no decoration. The lid, also decorated, was made to be flush with the outline of the vase, and has a pretty drop-shaped knob for grip. The painted bird is very stylized and it is not clear what breed it belongs to, but usually, in China, birds are symbols of wealth, traditionally regarded as the bearers of a happy announcement. By examining the vase we can evaluate its entire workmanship: it has a somewhat rough but harmonious execution, the designs are simple and rustic, it has small black spots present everywhere due to not perfect firing and too rapid cooling, the glaze is not shiny, on the rim of the vase and on the lid we can see the old patina formed by ginger fumes, we can also see small rust inclusions due to the iron present in the clay ( it takes up to 100 years for this effect to occur! ), all these factors and research we have done lead us to say that the vase was executed in an artistic-craftsmanship manner and date its execution with very good approximation between 1862 and 1875 during the Qing dynasty and exactly in the reign of Emperor Tung Chih. We have to say that Chinese porcelain handicraft production reached the peak of its development precisely during the Qing Dynasty, with more than 100,000 artisans in the industry; porcelains of this era include "blue and white," wuacai, "sky blue," and sunsacaiect. During this period, owning Chinese porcelain was a source of great pride among the people of China itself as well as the rest of the world. Our vase is a magnificent example of craftsmanship, a small work of art, a historical testimony to those times filled with fascination. Measurements diameter cm.22, height cm.32. The vase, considering the craftsmanship and the era, is in good condition. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, Styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
