French Louis XV Period Hand-Carved Carved Giltwood Mirror
This lovely French early 18th century Louis XV period giltwood mirror features hand-carved wood with gold leaf finish. The original mercury glass is set in a moulded frame which is crowned with an hand-carved leaf covered with flowers. The foliate motifs is repeated throughout the frame. Branches, leaves and flowers decorate this impressive mirror, the centre bottom of the frame is decorated with a round shaped carved branch. This very charming piece of narrow proportion has its original gold that is warm and very reflective with excellent patina. It is in generally good condition with only very minor blemishes. Original glass and backside. We can provide professional restoration and polishing with traditional methods to preserve its inner antique essence on request.
