We kindly suggest that you read the whole description, as we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our objects. Original and distinctive English terracotta cachepot; the shape is simple but well proportioned and delineated; the main colors have been carefully and tastefully chosen and combined in a very precise aesthetic and chromatic balance; the inclusion of cute and friendly budgerigars in the overall design makes the whole pleasant and delicate. On the bottom of the bowl, we find the mark of one of the most important English earthenware manufacturer companies: Gibson & Sons who created our cachepot in 1912 at their Burslem factory in Stoke on Trent England. The Gibson & Sons firm was founded in 1875; it was not until 1905 that it became a limited company. By 1906 the company was "employing about five hundred people." Manufacturers of tableware and teaware were particularly known for producing teapots. Around 1907-1910 they produced the "World's Largest Teapot," which held 1024 cups of tea. The company had a great development until 1950 when it was absorbed by other companies; the Gibson name finally disappeared from production in 1965. Our cachepot followed the traditional English earthenware production cycle: artisans first chose clay of the highest quality, which was shaped into the desired shape by wheeling and finished by hand; it was then allowed to dry before firing, which was done at a low temperature to harden the clay and make it ready for glazing; the colored glazes, made from minerals and chemicals, were applied to the object by dipping and with brushes; finally, the glazed piece was fired at a higher temperature to vitrify the clay and melt the glaze on the surface, thus creating a durable and functional ceramic object. Our cachepot tells a piece of history in the British earthenware tradition, and with its bright colors and strong personality it will stand out in any decor. The item is in good condition. Measures diameter cm.26, height cm.17. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (custom-made wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
