We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Elegant and unique table box; it is made entirely of light European walnut; a light rose with buds and leaves has been created on the lid with the inlay technique using exotic woods, also inlaid are the straight and parallel lines at the edges of the box; the lock of the period and functioning has an original key; the entire box has been hand-treated with ancient restoration techniques by our team of craftsmen and is in excellent condition; we have lined the interior with bright paper-velvet and the outer bottom is also protected with paper-velvet. The box was created in the Napoleon III style by a master cabinetmaker in a flawless manner between 1870 and 1880 in a craft workshop in the town of Pont-de-Beauvoisin, a French commune in the Isère department, nicknamed the city of furniture for its ancient tradition of woodworking. The master achieved an object that was simple but with fineness, rigor of design, and surprising sharpness and regularity. The masters had much freedom to create the decorative pattern they liked best. For this reason, each inlay is unique. The colors of the marquetry changed depending on the essence, cut, and grain of the wood. These factors, in fact, made the refraction of light on the surface vary. The technique of inlay, therefore, is very complicated-only the most skilled Master cabinetmakers were able to do such difficult work. Another characteristic of the box is the type of wood used to make it: light-toned European walnut or national walnut. Walnut (Juglans regia) is a valuable and expensive wood; the "European walnut" variety is much more so; it is characterized by a light color with shades tending toward yellow, warm tones, and much more pronounced grain, qualities highly valued in the luxury furniture industry. European walnut is a hardwood, its coloring, flaming and graining have been appreciated for centuries. It is a wood that is unparalleled in its aesthetic appearance, unlike American walnut, which is darker in color and tends to discolor over time, and is less expensive. Measures width cm.28, depth cm.19, height cm.10. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
