Iconic and historical Medici vase with a square base; it was made in France, inspired by the famous Medici Vase, between 1875 and 1880, with an excellent and massive cast iron fusion in an artisan foundry in Val D'Osne (Haute Marne, France), an area famous for its cast iron, bronze, and copper foundries. The Medici vase is one of the best-known objects of ancient art; the ancient specimen of Neo-Attic origin was found and inventoried in the Villa Medici in Rome, from where it took its name; we know in fact that the Lords of Florence loved to surround themselves in their residences with ancient objects of rare beauty. The monumental vase was made of marble and had the shape of an inverted bell, positioned on a circular base was decorated with magnificent high reliefs and bas-reliefs, today is preserved in the Uffizi Museum in Florence. Since that time, the Medici vase was made in many materials and sizes over the years (cast iron, iron, stone, terracotta, marble) to embellish gardens and palaces throughout Europe, often the vase was created and placed in pairs but the techniques of working the Medici Vase have remained the same as in antiquity.
