We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Elegant and refined pair of three-flame Victorian candlesticks; the round base supports a truncated conical stem at the end of which the structure with fluted volute arms can be inserted, thus completing an aesthetically striking ensemble; the candlesticks are adorned with rich and sumptuous decorations typical of the Victorian period; by disassembling the top of the stem they can be converted into two single-flame candlesticks. Unfortunately, the two ornamental pinnacles that were placed in the central part of the three lights and that had only a decorative function have been lost (we have attached an example photo of another Icandlestick as a demonstration), this lack slightly affects the beauty and elegance of the pair, but interestingly affects the price, which we have kept below the quotation precisely because of the absence of the pinnacles. The pair was made between 1880 and 1885 in a small craft workshop in Birmingham, England; we cannot trace the name of the maker because the candlesticks are not marked; we stated that they are from Birmingham since the experienced antique dealer from whom we purchased them on Rowheath Rd, Cotteridge in Birmingham assured us that they were locally made. Regarding the marks or punches of plated objects and in this case of Silver Plated, the English law that was so precise for the punching of silver objects did not at first oblige Old Sheffield and Silver Plated manufacturers to mark their products, especially those produced by small artisans or even made on commission by the customer himself. In any case, the importance and value of a beautiful antique object are not compromised by the lack of a maker's mark; in fact, it is not uncommon to come across objects of excellent workmanship but lacking any form of hallmarking. It should be mentioned, however, that to avoid confusion and fraud, starting in 1896, all electroplated silver-plated items had to bear the following inscriptions: EM Electroplated metal; EP (Electro Plated); EPNS (Electro Plated Nickel Silver); EPBM (Electro Plated Britannia Metal). Ours is a pair of particular, finely crafted objects that express their harmonious classicism with strength and personality, an ideal complement for a table or any other furnishing needs, in its time-defying elegance, it goes perfectly with both classic and modern. The pair is in very good condition, in a few places the silver plating is worn and you can see the copper underneath, but this that makes the two objects much more fascinating and historically interesting. Measurements base diameter cm.13, width cm.31, height cm.31. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
