Mirrors by the Werkstatte Hagenauer range among the most productive objects made by the Viennese manufacture. A wide range of different mirrors was produced from the small table mirror up to monumental make-up mirrors for ladies. This mirror bears a design form the late 1920s. The depicture of the female is very interesting because of her large, pointy feet and her nose, resembling a clown’s nose. This is an indication that the figurine presents a variety dancer. The reduced use of forms in addition to the complete loss of extravagant ornaments represents a further development of the design in opposition to the expiring Wiener Jugendstil.
