Biography: Komlós Miklós and Komlós István founded a small ceramic workshop in Nyíregyháza in 1931.
With their self-designed ceramic sculptures, they quickly became well-known throughout the entire country.
Their themes were taken mainly from cheerful scenes of bourgeois and rural life.Large numbers of elegant gentlemen and ladies, Black musicians, charming animal figures, and children were produced.Komlós ceramics are structurally very well designed and are instantly recognizable by their cheerful, vivid colors.
In 1934 they opened their second workshop in Budapest, at 7 Hársfa Street in District VII. The ceramics produced there were marked with a new stamp: Komlós testvérek Budapest (“Komlós Brothers Budapest”).
After the war, the workshop continued to operate for a short time, and after nationalization it was absorbed into the Kerámia Iparm?vész KTSZ (Ceramic Applied Arts Cooperative).
