Former student of the Schools of Ceramics in Vierzon and the Fine Arts, André Rosay arrived in La Borne in 1943 to work with François Guillaume. In 1962, he co-founded the Amicale des potiers de La Borne, which paved the way for the current Association of Ceramists. A founding member of the Museum of Traditional Pottery, he is known for his utilitarian pieces and refined sculptures, renewing the themes of Borne pottery. This painting relates to the theme of Africa, often explored during the period in which the work was produced. Lacquered wood. Circa 1940. Signed in the lower right corner.
