André ROZAY (1913 – 1991), "Condensed Africa"

€21.000,00

André Rozay (1922-1994), a French ceramist and sculptor, initially aspired to become a painter before turning to ceramics. Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Bourges and Paris, his works from this early period are rare. After World War II, he developed a distinctive style, blending minimalist animal sculptures with functional pottery pieces, often ash-glazed. His creations, characterized by bold and stylized forms, revitalized traditional pottery themes while remaining deeply rooted in craftsmanship. Exploration of Africa. Laquer on board. Circa 1940. Signed in the bottom right corner.
