Henry de Waroquier (1881–1970) « Reclining Nude »
€1.950,00
Henry de Waroquier (1881–1970) was a versatile French artist from an aristocratic family of artists. Independent and curious, he rejected traditional paths, trained at the École des Arts Décoratifs, and very early developed a personal style alongside Modigliani.
He quickly achieved success with his landscapes, particularly those of Venice, known for their soothing tones. At the same time, he explored a darker, more expressive body of work, marked by anguish and the distortion of human figures, as seen in La Tragédie (1937) and Espagne (1938), often compared to Guernica.
Always seeking innovation, he also experimented with hybrid forms combining sculpture and photography, creating ephemeral works.
