Bearing his head at an angle the figurine seams to behold the room. His fly is fastened coquettish around his neck.The prominent stylised nose divides the face and emphasizes the stretched silhouette of the sculpture. Attentively is he looking at the observer with a big “Modigliani”-like eye.
The other half of his face is blank, pulling the beholders view onto the exceptionally well executed left ear. The mirror-polished left cheek offers a convex reflecting surface and involves subject and object into an attractive correlation.
The strong reduction along with the typical Hagenauer-style is peculiar of Franz Hagenauer in the late 1970ies.
Such characteristic heads are among the most desirable sculptures of the
Werkstätte Hagenauer. This particular design has been crafted circa three times.
