In 1920s the Hagenauer siblings Karl and Franz began to design and craft strongly reduced figurines in their Viennese workshop. Today this sculptures count towards the beginning of the design of France and Italy of the 1950s and 1960s. Through the strong reduction of the physical attributions of man of woman the Hagenauer brothers created a new modernism that has never been achieved before.
The kneeling woman dates to the early 1920s. The physical attributes are displayed very reduced and dynamic. The nickel plated finish lends this figurine a fine, precious appearance and the execution shows great craftsmanship.
