€35.000,00

André Sornay (1902-2000) was a French furniture designer who transformed his family's business after taking over in 1919. Influenced by Bauhaus and De Stijl, he created modern, functional pieces characterized by pure geometric lines. Sornay innovated with a clout assembly technique, leading to affordable “clouted” furniture. He exhibited primarily at the Lyon Autumn Salons and earned recognition at the 1937 International Exposition, winning a bronze medal. In the 1950s and 1960s, he transitioned to working for public entities, gradually passing his business to his children. Circa 1932. Varnished plywood chest of drawers. Black lacquered wood base and handles with gilded brass nailing. Six drawers. Trace of signature on the base. Dimensions  H : 89 cm W : 169,5 cm D : 52 cm/H: 35 in W: 67 in D: 20 in
