Art Deco Streamlined Black Lacquer & Burled Walnut Sideboard by Donald Deskey
$16,475.00
This stunning Art Deco Machine Age sideboard was designed by the 20th century luminary behind Radio City Music Hall, Donald Deskey, circa 1935. Executed in burled walnut- replete with a stunning natural grain- and black lacquer with brushed aluminum accents, this piece offers dramatic tonal contrasts and iconic leitmotifs of Art Deco design throughout. The black lacquer sides are streamlined- a form that reappears on the front of the piece- with burled walnut bands. The top, as well as the black lacquer and brushed aluminum pulls, are skyscraper style. The piece comes equipped with the original diamond shape lock and teardrop form key with curvilinear forms in the center (testifying that no detail was overlooked in this piece's construction). The sideboard offers two compartments with a shelf on each side and three drawers in the center, creating a wealth of storage possibilities. With its iconically Art Deco sensibility, designed by one of the era's most legendary and influential figures, this gorgeous piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of the period, as well as those with a penchant for exquisite objects. Its refined palate and clean modernist lines make it as versatile as it is beautiful, blending perfectly with any style of interior from classic Deco to contemporary. It has been newly restored to mint condition.
