We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our objects. A peculiar and elegant tea table made in Art Deco style with flamed European walnut veneer of the highest quality; the upper top is octagonal in shape; it has a second convenient shelf at the bottom, also octagonal, both are set on housings, specially created at different heights, on the four rectangular-section legs painted black, the whole structure results in exceptional compactness, solidity, and stability. The two tops have been veneered with flamed European walnut (Juglans Regia), by far one of the most valuable and fascinating woods that make it especially popular in the luxury furniture sector; the flamed type occurs as a set of twisted wood fibers that give the wood its characteristic hardness and compactness; this species of wood also has an absolutely unique aesthetic value, since, thanks to the many natural grains, which are always different, it is very elegant and refined; the two tops even though they are worked with the same wood logically present different grains and patterns from each other. The coffee table was made in the Art Deco style by expert wood craftsmen between 1930 and 1933 in a workshop in Chambery, a town in the woods of the Savoy department, right at the foot of the Alps. Veneering is an ancient woodworking technique that consists of applying a thinner layer of fine wood to a substrate of normal-quality walnut wood; the fine walnut wood is harvested from trees specially grown for this purpose, it is then cut into thin sheets whose thickness varies from 1 to 2 millimeters; the base wood is prepared by applying a special glue then the fine walnut sheets are applied manually and evenly; after this processing the whole is pressed and allowed to dry, allowing the glue to adhere firmly between the fine walnut wood and the substrate, creating a stable veneer; this once dry is finished with sanding, polishing and the application of protective finishes, such as varnishes or oils, to improve the appearance and durability of the wood. The history of veneering goes back many centuries; it is believed to have been first used in ancient Egypt and China. Over the centuries, this technique has spread throughout the world and has continued to evolve, becoming an important part of the production of high-quality furniture, luxury items, and objets d'art. This ancient technique, applied to our table, has made it possible to enhance the colors, flaming, and grain of the fine-flamed walnut. The artisans who worked on this coffee table have succeeded in creating an extraordinary piece of furniture, refined and compelling, extraordinary and unique, capable of communicating to us suggestions of times past, of tradition and functionality. The object has been hand-restored by our team of craftsmen and is in perfect condition. Measures width cm.58, depth cm.58, height cm.60. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (custom-made wooden crates, Styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
