Chair by Gerrit Willem Dijsselhof for E.J. van Wisselingh, the Netherlands 1900
€800,00
SOLD
A beautiful side / dining chair, designed by Gerrit Willem Dijsselhof and manufactured in the Netherlands around 1900.
Made of the highest quality oak wood in a nice, warm brown colour. The frame of the chair has beautiful carved details. Well made with an impressive eye for detail and an eye-catching modernist style! The chair still has the original leather upholstery that is damaged, but we decided to keep it original because of the historic value of the piece.
Dijsselhof (1866 – 1924), was a Dutch painter involved in the arts and crafts movement. From 1897 he worked on furniture design for the firm E.J. van Wisselingh & Co., Amsterdam.
It remains in fair, vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. There upholstery to the seat is damaged, as shown in photos, but remains original.
