This very fine English late 19th-early 20th century (probably Victoria or Edward VII period) Georgian style chest on stand or highboy is made of the most finest burl walnut featuring an exceptional veneered wood and warm grain. The cabinet has both parts with fluted and canted corners, the upper with three small drawers above three long and capacious drawers all fitted with original gilt brass handles. This beautiful chest of drawers is enriched with precious cross banding inlay and seaweed marquetry throughout the front of fine quality and rich patina. This case piece rests on a very elegant removable base with cabriole legs on pad feet. The walnut wood stand features a burl walnut hand carved and molded apron and the four legs are enriched with hand carved scrolls and shell shaped details. Please note the features of bold fluted angles together with handsome veneered wood and cross-banded drawer fronts, scrolled inlay, cabriolet legs on pad feet and original engraved brass mounts are a sure sign of good quality which add considerable interest and value to this antique piece of furniture. This highboy thanks to its harmonious shapes accentuated by warm, natural wood grain is perfect both in a dining room, living room or bedroom.
