Florentine bed 14th century style
price upon request
The bed is a replica of one of the original beds from Palazzo Davanzati in Florence. (Palazzo Davanzati)
Palazzo Davanzati is a castle turned museum in Florence, depicting life in medieval Italy. This palace dates back to the 14th century and contains over 10 beautifully decorated rooms with period furniture and frescoes, along with original stone and wood stairs.
It's not a perfect replica, as the columns in the original bed protruded more into the mattress; they were partly made of straw, so there was no issue with them pressing into the square corners of the columns. Additionally, they omitted the angels from the column heads and the headboard.
The bed is hand-carved from cherry wood (the carving process took only 8 months), with antiqued engraved metal panels (imitation of gold leaf) to give it an antique appearance.
The footboard and headboard are combined, while the two side panels.
