We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Elegant and refined French guéridon in Louis XVI style in gilded wood; the frontal band and the edge of the marble top have rich and sophisticated decorations; the three legs carved with grooves and enriched with important ornaments, are joined at the bottom by three straight crossbars at the center of which there is a beautiful floral decoration; the excellent marble used for the top is a "Bianco Gioia Venato" of Carrara, very particular and fascinating; Carrara marble is a type of marble that is extracted from the quarries of the Apuan Alps in the territory of Carrara (Italy), universally known as one of the most valuable marbles in the world. This splendid object, a sober masterpiece of the Louis XVI style, was created in an artisan workshop near Paris between 1920 and 1925. All the precious decorations on the table were made in "pastiglia". The "pastiglia" workmanship, the fruit of the ancient artisan tradition, was born in Italy at the end of the fifteenth century, remained in use for most of the seventeenth century throughout Europe, and then continued in the nineteenth century until the beginning of the twentieth century. The "pastiglia" was formed by a mixture of chalk (calcium carbonate), gluey vegetable resins, honey, linseed oil, and often marble powder. On the wooden support was glued a veil of canvas and then were spread several states of "pastille", this was then printed or engraved or finely modeled (see photo example), usually the decorative motifs were in bas-relief, then it was left to harden and at the end was applied the gilding with thin gold leaves. This fascinating method of working is no longer practiced, there is only one company in the world that still performs it on frames: Studio Rufus Cavalli & Poli Frames in Carpenedolo (Brescia-Italy). The table is in good condition. Measures diameter cm.40, height cm.68. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
