We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Particular and rare bedside table in walnut wood, on the perimeter of the upper floor, was placed an elegant railing pierced gilt brass, the convenient drawer below is equipped with bronze handles, also in bronze are the decorations at the ends of the four slender saber-shaped legs which are connected by a shelf, which, in addition to a practical and aesthetic function, makes the bedside table solidly stable. The uniqueness of this nightstand is in its particular workmanship, in fact, apart from the legs, the cabinet is all inlaid with a wide variety of exotic woods of different colors that create an exceptional set and a fantastic color effect enjoyable at 360 °, because the inlay, as we said, covers the entire surface of the cabinet. This work of art was created by a true master cabinetmaker in a perfect and meticulous manner between 1780 and 1785 in a workshop in the town of Pont-de-Beauvoisin, a French municipality in the department of Isère, nicknamed the city of furniture for its ancient tradition of woodworking. The master obtained an object of an amazing fineness, rigor of design, sharpness, and regularity. The masters had a lot of freedom to create the decorative pattern they liked best. For this reason, each inlay is unique. The colors of the inlay changed depending on the essence, the cut, and the grain of the wood. These factors, in fact, varied the refraction of light on the surface. The technique of inlay, therefore, is very complicated, only the most skilled master cabinetmakers were able to do these works so difficult. But our nightstand has another extraordinary feature: it comes from the sale of the furniture of the Château de Chitry in Valleries, a French town in the department of Haute-Savoie, near Pont-de-Beauvoisin where the nightstand was made. A family from Vallières already owned a fortified house in the town in the 12th century. The castle may have been built in the Middle Ages by the lords of Vallières. The lordship then passed to the Sionnaz family. In the 15th century, it was in the hands of the Montfalcon family. In 1585 the building was bought by Louis de Sales. Around 1610, Péronne de Montfalcon gave the castle as a dowry to her husband Balthazard de Mouxy. A few years later, their daughter Adrienne, from her marriage, will take the castle to her husband Claude-Jérôme Chabod de Saint Maurice. This family, originally from Chambéry, occupied an important place in the army and diplomacy of the Savoy sovereigns. The family maintained the residence until 1832, the date of the death of Aynard Jérôme de Chabod. Without a successor, his widow will test herself in favor of her nephew, François Marc Aynard Grenaud de La Tour. His descendants sold the castle to Mr. de Castella in 1921 who sold it to Roussel Laboratories in 1953. As you can see in this Castle have lived the most important families of the Region. Until recently it was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Wittman, now it is for sale. The bedside table is in good condition and we will attach the photo of the Castle. Measures width cm.45, depth cm.35, height cm.68. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
