€12.500,00

SOLD
Beautiful antique French Gobelin tapestry. Hand woven with wool and silk in France circa Mid 18th Century in a workshop in Paris or Verdun. The design shows a Mediterran Garden Scene with a building in the center, surrounded by palm trees. Around the center scene some oak trees with birds and leaves complete the motive. It was woven in the so called slit weave technique, showing the weft threads of each color are wound back from the color boundary, leaving a slit between the changes of colored threats. The Tapestry is about 250 years old, signs of age are visible. The Tapestry has some old restorations and is mounted on a textile band with mounting rings. All of our rugs, carpets and kilims are original vintage or antique pieces. All rugs are used and have appropriate condition to their age. Stronger signs of use are separately listed.
