'Sculptural Twist' Bench by Carol Egan
A new classic in itself, ‘Sculptural Twist’ Bench by Dublin-born and Manhattan-based Carol Egan lies at the crossroads of past and future. Very minimalist in style, this stool was developed using 3D modeling software before being crafted entirely by hand. The amazing result defies the impossible: the 180-degree twist, contortion of a wooden plank, here multiplied by four, a form in fact achieved by the ancient art of wood-carving. ‘As a designer, I’m interested in digital technology,’ says Carol. ‘I am fascinated by the process of creating complex geometries using 3D printer software to make prototypes during the design process. But what really excites me is when you combine this modern technology with traditional wood-carving. It’s in the hands of a refined craftsman, that each piece is truly made unique.’ Pricing does not include 20% French VAT applicable in the EU only.
