SOLD
A beautiful side chair designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen for Fröschen Sitform in Germany around 1960.
Made of high quality walnut wood with cognac leather, this is a highly recognizable piece by iconic design Ib Kofod Larsen. The warm brown colour of the walnut matches really nicely with the upholstery and adds to the beautiful appeal of this piece. The frame has a rounded finish and the curved backrest as well as the additional seat cushion all create a very nice seating comfort! A beautiful find that will be a lovely addition to any decor.
It remains in fair, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. One of it’s legs is slightly bent.
Furniture designer Ib Kofod-Larsen’s furniture from the 1950s and 1960s are today more desirable than ever before. Danish Kofod-Larsen designed storage and seating for the Swedish market in the 1960s but did not really reach any commercial success. Maybe his organic design was to extreme for the Swedish taste at the time. In Denmark, on the contrary, his sideboards produced by Faarup won immediate recognition. Today his creations are sold at higher and higher prices, as his clean designs, often in beautiful rosewood or palisander, have become highly appreciated by a global community of design enthusiasts. Ib Kofod-Larsen’s most celebrated achievement is the Elizabeth chair and Ottoman, model U-56, executed by Christensen & Larsen.
