A very well carved mid-19th century Carrara marble Louis XVI style fireplace. The tapered jambs having carved finger fluted panels, carved husks within. The top carved panels with shell and descending bell drops, surmounted by foliate carving and square patarae corner blocks. The panelled frieze with centre tablet of roses and flowers carved in high relief, flanked either side by extending foliage. The fielded side returns retaining their original brass vents. All beneath a break front stepped shelf. A quality French surround and very good size.
