Willy Rizzo, coffee table, metal and lacquer, 1970s, Italy. Rotating and hinged design opens to reveal illuminated bar. This iconic cocktail table is designed by Willy Rizzo. His cocktail tables are amongst his most prolific and therefore most wanted objects. This particular piece is exemplary for the glamorous style that Rizzo is known for. The black top matches the clean metal in a staid yet harmonious way. The model of TRG (Tavolo Rotondo Girevole) features a round, revolving coffee that Willy Rizzo designed in 1967 and manufactured by Studio Willy Rizzo during the 1970s. The table is made of chrome stainless steel and the top is black lacquered. The lower part includes a ice bucket bar box. Willy Rizzo (1928-2013), born in Naples, was a celebrity and Hollywood photographer. His models include Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn. At a later stage in life, Rizzo discovered that his clientele loved his particular aesthetics and sense for style so much that he decided to design furniture. Often his design where commissions from for example Salvador Dali or Marilyn Monroe. From the end of the 1960s onwards, Rizzo designed about 30 different furniture pieces.
