A beautiful “Womb” chair with matching foot stool, designed by Eero Saarinen and manufactured by Knoll International in the United States around 1950. Standing on thin, tubular chrome plated metal legs and both upholstered in high quality dark blue velvet that is soft to the touch. This combines into a wonderful, elegant and very inviting appearance. Eero Saarinen designed this piece for Florence Knoll, who was looking for a chair that was like “a basket full of pillows”, “something she could really curl up in.” The sizes for the chair are W. 95 x D. 95 x H. 88 (SH. 43) cm The sizes for the stool are W. 71 x D. 52 x H. 40 cm The set remains in very good condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
