A pair of patinated mirror sconces, executed in the typical Italian Art Deco style of the 1940s and early 1950s. The fixture is equipped with small Edison screw sockets (SES), (E17 14-17 mm) max 40 watt, works in the USA. Dimensions: height 11.8 in. (30 cm), depth 3.5 in. (9 cm) and width 7.3 inches (18,5 cm). Good condition, beautiful patine, consistent with age and use. Wear to the brass and the mirrors. In the early days they hung these lamps with a small hook on there crown at the top, which we didn't find a beautiful solution. Wire mesh has been attached to the back of the fixtures in order to facilitate wall mounting. Not only Gio Ponti has designed countless objects in this mid century Neo-Classical style, but people like Paolo Buffa and Guglielmo Ulrich were strong advocates of this ‘Moderate Modernism’ as well. These highly decorative wall lights refer to the past in an other sense as well: just like classical candle sconces the mirrors amplify the light, in this case from the bulbs. As electrical requirements vary from country to country, we recommend that you always have lights checked and installed by a local professional.
