Rare Kandem Bakelite Table Lamp Attributed to Marianne Brandt, circa 1945
€3.500,00
From 1924, lamp design became a field of interest at the Bauhaus, led by Brandt. Brandt was key in organizing the cooperation between the Bauhaus and Kandem, which encouraged the Bauhaus artists to take the step from manual production of unique pieces to an industrially made product. Its designs, in particular those by Brandt, became milestones in design history.
Marianne Brandt (1893-1983) worked for the lamp editor Kandem after she left the Bauhaus and she designed their most representative models. Kandem (Körting & Mathiesen) is the oldest lamp manufacturer in Germany. This table lamp is rare and is made of bakelite, it is attributed to Marianne Brandt as no documentation on this model has survived.
This bakelite table lamp is approximately dated 1945. Wired for European use.
