Romeo Rega (1925-1984) was a Roman designer who distinguished himself during his forty-year career as a pioneer and protagonist at the national and international level of the golden years of "Italian Design". He designed and built for Cinecittà the chariots for the film Ben-Hur, American colossal of 1959. The '70s represent a real revolution for the Italian cultural scene, they are the "golden years" of design, and Romeo is able to apply for his creations, with ingenuity and creativity, the traditional methods of processing to new industrial materials such as Plexiglas, brass, and steel. Opaline is slightly translucent glass, opacified by means of phosphates and sodium and calcium chlorides with the addition of tin oxides and talc, thus obtaining various shades of colors from pastel to milk-white; opaline glass is much less dense and opaque than milk glass (very similar to porcelain); the first opaline glass objects were made in Murano in the 16th century, the technique was not kept secret and was copied in Germany and France and had its heyday from 1820 to 1870. Our sconces are quite large in size, but on the whole, they are sober, luxurious, and refined; with their simple structure, clean and light architectural lines, they are prestigious and unique furnishing objects, elegant and modern, adaptable to any room in your home.
