We kindly suggest that you read the whole description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Original and peculiar chandelier made of gold-colored anodized aluminum; on a solid central bar with square sections are arranged perpendicularly and asymmetrically with four other bars with rectangular sections at the top of which were placed four parallelepipeds with electrical connections for the bulbs; in order to direct the light downward the light points are enclosed in shaped half-crystal caps with ice effect and are connected to each other by electric wire that emerges at the top of the central bar for connection to the network. Also on the top central bar is a sturdy ring to which the brass chain included with the chandelier can be attached so that the height of the chandelier can be adjusted as desired. The object has a modern and contemporary design, not too loaded but essential, a unique piece of furniture, refined and elegant at the same time that fits naturally and simply in both contemporary and classic environments. It was made in Space Age style between 1964 and 1968 in a craft workshop in Milan inspired by a design by Gaetano Sciolari, a famous and prolific Italian designer and entrepreneur. Angelo Gaetano Sciolari, born in 1927 in Italy, contributed greatly to the success of Italian design around the world particularly in the U.S. He was an outstanding businessman as well as an innovative creative designer. In 1949, after the death of his father, he had to manage the family light manufacturing business. In just a few years, the designer transformed the firm into an international enterprise! Manufacturer Sciolari became the first seller of Italian lights in the United States (imported from America by Lightolier& Progress Lighting)! People of America have seen Sciolari's products on the famous TV program Dall. The style of the chandelier is the "Space Age," this aesthetic current originated at the dawn of the space age, commonly attributed to the launch of Sputnik in October 1957; space age design captured society's optimism and confidence in technology in the 1950s and 1960s through the early 1970s. The caps that enclose the light points are made of half crystal; unlike crystal, the glass from which half crystal is made does not contain lead; half crystal is machined and then put into an electric furnace to make the edges of the faces less sharp, then heat or fire polished (Fire Polished) to give it a shiny, lustrous finish with an ice effect; the half-crystal is originally from Bohemia; the caps look incredibly similar to a real ice sculpture; when lit and flooded with light, they cast beautiful shadows on the surrounding walls, creating a cozy warmth in the room despite their icy appearance; they play with natural (sun) light even when off. The chandelier is in good condition. The electrical system is working but the wiring is European, voltage compatibility in other states should always be checked by an electrician before use. For all our shipments we use special packing materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the items.
